When I was working on the extra credit assignment I became really interested in nicenet.org I thought this site was a great way for teachers to communicate with their students outside of the classroom and make sure that students always can find the latest information. There is a spot for discussion boards and conferencing which can help enhance the way that students think. By hearing other's opinions it may trigger something new or even just help a student that is struggling.
There is a spot for class schedule so the teacher can post in advance a schedule for say a whole month. I thought this was a great tool because students don't have to stress if they can't remember deadlines or what tomorrow's class will be about.
On nicenet you can also post assignment and links for the students to complete. Instead of printing out all the worksheets in class the teacher can just post it and have the student work on it for homework. I really liked nicenet and I think i would use this in the future for my own class. Its a great way to stay organized.
As far as what i would like to know for the future, there is a lot. I still get frustrated when working with certain programs on the computer and I would like to get more comfortable so I can complete things faster. There isn't anything specific that i can think of but I know I need to work a little more with excel. By becoming more comfortable with the computer it will help me in the future with my classroom by being able to assist my students. It seems that the younger kids are the more they are advanced in technology and i would like to be at the same level as my students.
I think I can achieve my goals by practicing with the different programs. I use my computer on a daily basis so i think that by the time i am finished with my degree i will be more advanced and hopefully can achieve my goals. I plan on taking another technology class if that allows.

Chapter 8 talked about computer viruses and how they spread. There was a list on pg 487 that showed the signs of a possible virus infection, i thought this was an important thing for everyone to know. With how important technology and computers are today with college students, it would be awful to get a virus and lose all my work. Some of the signs were: an unusual message or sound appearing on screen, available memory changes unexplainably, a program or file disappears or a file not working properly.
Since the last post i haven't learned too many new things. I worked a little more with excel and learned some new things with that. I think now that i know more about excel i will deffinitely use it more. I used to just work with Word because that's what i was familiar with but now i am comfortable with excel and can use it more often.
I can't believe we're in the last week of classes! This six week period has definitely flown by. I think next summer i am going to take classes again because it wasn't as difficult as i thought it would be. Taking classes over the summer can help lessen the course load for the fall!

Chapter seven talked a lot about evaluating different aspects of education and the technology used. We evaluate something in order to determine it's value or judge it's worth. I think it is a good idea to evaluate different aspects of education that way you know its suitable for the situation and motivational.
I haven't learned anything new since the last post. I hope to be able to apply everything i learned with taking the excel practice test. There was a lot to take in.
My roommates have two cats and i am very allergic to them. I got a prescription for allegra so i thought that would help, but it hasn't. I have a hard time falling asleep at night because my nose is stuffed and i can't close my mouth or i won't be able to breathe. My Dad bought me an air purifier to put in my room which i should have in a week so hopefully that helps and i can sleep better!

Chapter 6 talked a lot about curriculum and standards that need to be met. I think curriculum standards are extremely important in K-12 because it helps keep all the students on the same level. If there weren't curriculum standards, students attending different schools would be on different levels and that would make things difficult when going to college.
ince the last post i learned a lot with Excel. I wasn't too familiar with it before but after i took the practice test i learned how to make formulas and charts. I love to be organized so i think this will help me in the future.
I posted a picture of my dog Tonka. I love him more everyday, his personality is awesome and he loves everyone. Sorority recruitment is coming up and i haven't started shopping for it yet since i've been so busy with classes. I'm excited to be on the other side of recruitment this year instead of being the one thats rushing!

The beginning of chapter 5 discussed digital media software that can be used in the classroom. I found this very interesting because I believe that when a student can see the information visually and interact with it, they can learn better. It gets boring reading information from a textbook or listening to a teacher lecture so when you can vary the learning strategies the students will retain more information.
I learned a few new things since the last posting such as how to do custom animations on a Powerpoint presentaion. I think I would use this in the future to keep my presentations interesting.
Well my boyfriend comes home in 17 days and i am super excited!! The time has been going by a lot faster now because of my busy schedule. I went home to Clearwater for the weekend to show my mom my new dog. He is two years old and his name is Tonka, he is a black chihuahua/pekingese mix. I wasn't sure how he would handle the four hour car ride but he did great! He slept the whole way.

Chapter 4 talked about hardware. This chapter got very technical and I personally don't understand all there is to know about the technical aspects of a computer or technology in general. I think one of the best pieces of hardware to come out was the flash drive. I use mine all the time whether to back up my work or transfer it easily to another computer.
I have been learning a lot more than i expected from this course. I've been using a computer since elementary school but I haven't realized how much there is to learn that you don't realize which makes me glad i'm taking this course.
Well I can't believe that half of July is already gone and we're almost done with classes! Summer courses deffinitely fly by fast and i'm looking forward to the three week break between summer and fall classes!

There are many different things that can be used in the classroom to make things more efficient such as excel spread sheets and power point. In personal experiences, many teachers use powerpoint presentations during lectures and i find them to be very helpful and allow the teacher to speak more openly with the class.
Since the last post we did the microsoft word practice and test and I was surprised to find many things i didn't know. Such as how to create forms and use check boxes and drop down choices. This could be very useful in the future when working in the classroom.
So my boyfriend and I decided not to go on the cruise but to take a weekend trip to Universal Studios instead. I am really excited for the trip especially since he has never been there. Things have been great with us, he comes home in 25 days and i cannot wait!!!

Chapter 2 discussed different ways of searching the internet for what you are looking for. It's easiest to find what you need if you keep your search key words down to a minimum. If you type in too many words the computer seems to get too specific and you won't get what you're looking for.
A new skill I acquired is scholar.google.com, it's a search engine that can give you scholarly articles. This will be helpful in the classroom to search for educational topics you may need.
This weekend was a little rough with my boyfriend, we got into a few arguments because we were holding things back and had bad communication. We both agreed to be completely honest with eachother and i think that will help with the communication. Things are great now and we are looking into going on a cruise in August when he gets back so i am super excited!
